KALEO takes his Way Down We Go Tour to Chicago

KALEO headlines his Way Down We Go Tour - bringing his tour to Chicago, along with opener Dawes.

I am going to start off with a little personal rant because this was my last show in Chicago, as a resident. I have seen, and covered, over forty-five shows in my short time in Chicago; as of writing this, I am safely back in California. That said, and as implied, I have experienced a number of bands over the last year and a half. All of the bands I have seen have always put on an amazing show and own personal touch that makes them stand out to their studio work. KALEO didn't put on any sort of theatrics that made him stand out, but instead, he just put on this masterful show - with that distinct voice of his - and rocked all of our little minds out. Between the him and the venue (The Salt Shed (indoors)), this performance has to be one of my top shows - especially in recent times.

KALEO has this phenomenal, powerful, bassy voice that just echoes and vibrates your brain. Again, there wasn't anything spectacular going on onstage, but the sound emanating from that stage was otherworldly and full of an explosive energy that set off everyone in the room like - like a chain reaction. A friend of mine put it in my head that he sounded like Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) and I hate to say it, but in a live setting, I could hear it. Thinking back to the show, I feel like he had a little bit of Nickelback and Hozier.

As much as I like Kaleo, I feel like the live show ruined him for me. Don't get me wrong, I still love his studio music, but there is NOTHING like his live performance. It felt like his studio version but without him holding anything back.

It is without a doubt that Kaleo has become one of my favorite live acts and someone I fully intend on following throughout his future tours, and he is someone that I could not recommend ENOUGH to go see - given the opportunity!
