Aragon Ballroom Got "Starbomb"ed!
Starbomb is hitting the road for their first-ever tour, appropriately titled "Probably The Only Tour Ever." Making their return to the historic Aragon Ballroom, the band celebrated 10 years together with their Chicago fans.
Now, I just want to preface, I have been a fan of Dan and Arin since the beginning of Game Grumps (Dan joined a bit later). Seeing them perform as Starbomb was life changing! I never thought I would see all three together performing for everyone. So I knew I had to jump on this opportunity as soon as I could! I never got the chance to see Dan and Brian as Ninja Sex Party but this was just as good! I know I'm going to talk about their performance next but please go watch Game Grumps, it's hilarious and welcoming and I can't recommend it enough.
Making my way into the venue, I could already tell the night was going to be insane. The crowd was filled with cosplayers referencing past skits, fans showing off inside jokes from the band, and people simply expressing themselves in a place where they could feel comfortable being who they are.
Kicking off the night was Scoochie Boochie, the hilarious, self-proclaimed "Best Rapper in the World." He was the perfect way to get things started, bringing plenty of energy right from the beginning with funny jokes, ridiculous gags, and songs that had the crowd laughing along. His style reminded me a lot of the kind of music Weird Al makes, mixing comedy with music in a way that made his performance even more entertaining. At the end of his set, he danced to "Through Heaven's Eyes" from the renowned film Prince of Egypt and I was loving it! He was jumping and clapping along and the audience followed. I am a big fan of the film so seeing his interpretation was such a sight to behold! He really brought the intense energy and power of the song to his performance. It really got me to dance and watch the film again!

Starbomb was up next, and it was an experience I will never forget. Right from the start, they made sure to interact with the fans, from saying hello to everyone to simply taking a moment to appreciate the Chicago crowd. They thanked everyone for coming out to their "First and Probably Only Tour Ever," and it was insane to see just how many people had filled the Aragon Ballroom.
The show felt like a mix of hilarious skits and amazing musical performances, with a few breaks in between that allowed the band to connect with the crowd. Throughout the night, pre-recorded videos featuring familiar faces like Markiplier played at different points in the show, helping tie everything together and build on the story the band wanted to tell. It made the entire performance feel like more than just a concert, keeping things entertaining and exciting for the Chicago crowd from start to finish. It felt like it was a way for them to thank their fans for all these years of being a part of their community and lives.
As someone who was hearing Starbomb for the first time, one thing that really caught my attention was how their music was heavily inspired by video games. After talking with a few fans and learning more about the band's YouTube background, it all started to make sense! Even though I wasn't familiar with their songs going into the night, I could definitely see why so many people loved them. And boy, was the Aragon loud! The crowd was singing back nearly every word to each song, making the energy inside the venue absolutely insane. It was one of those moments where you didn't need to know the music to enjoy yourself. Just being surrounded by that much excitement was enough to get you into it.
Walking out of the Aragon Ballroom, I can definitely say Starbomb left me wanting to learn more about them. As someone who went into the night not knowing much about their music, I found myself looking into their work afterward, discovering more about their origins, the inspiration behind their songs, and even their connections to Ninja Sex Party, something I had no idea about before the show! It was really cool to experience something completely new to me and see just how passionate their fans are. From the hilarious skits and video game-inspired music to the incredible energy of the Chicago crowd, Starbomb put on a show that was unlike anything I had experienced before. I, personally, want to thank them for even continuing to show up and still creating content for us after all this time. And if this really is their "Probably The Only Tour Ever," I'm glad I got to be part of it.
