Goldford comes back to his roots and puts on a phenomenal show at Park West Chicago
On the beautiful Saturday night that was April 11, 2026, Goldford steamrolled right through Chicago's very own Park West to play to a jam-packed house. By the time I made it through the doors, the house was buzzing with excitement as people were getting drinks, stopping by the merch table(s), or just trying to find a place to hunker down for the night. When I say hunker down, I mean it. I was trying to make my way down to the GA level, but I found myself stuck between walls of people. At some point I had to make a decision and just realize that it would be best to find a good, open spot to get a few shots and just enjoy the show.
The night started off with Rett Madison - who I was unfamiliar with but ended up knocking her performance out of the water. In the coming days, I will definitely be doing some extra homework, and checking out her catalog, because she definitely had me smiling the whole time. She was amazing.. so much so that it felt like she performed three songs before jumping off of the stage. Definitely watch out for her and catch her if you can; I know I hope to run into Rett soon, too!
The time is now 9PM and the crowd slowly begins to liven up. You begin to see these shadowy figures emerging from the side of the stage. As you begin to squint, a few back lights begin to illuminate the these shadowy figures, and now you are certain that these are actually silhouettes of individuals beginning to take their respective place on the stage. Before you know it, before the crowd fully erupts, you can hear the sound of peoples' feet shuffling - turning around to face the stage. As people turn towards the stage and phone scrolling stops, the crowd turns dark. Suddenly, cheers fill the room and the final figure joins the stage. A strong - yet soft - voice lowly echoes through the room. The lights come on and the room begins to vibrate shortly after - purely from the excitement in the room.
Goldford did what Goldford does best.. he put his heart and soul into the performance and proved why he deserved every single bit of what he has worked for. Time and time again, he proves that his decision to leave corporate America was the best decision he could've made - taking a bet on himself. Without a doubt, experiencing Goldford feels like a healing moment... you just want to sing your lungs out. There's so much love I the air, that even if it is just for the night, you feel like anything is possible - and like nothing else matters. That said, I think that's the lesson he tries to get across - that we confine ourselves to this life, chaining ourselves down to think that whatever we are doing is all we have to look forward to. But, we are capable of so much more; we can release these self-imposed chains and chase our dreams.
Aside from all of the possible lessons, the night genuinely feels like something magical. It's hard to explain the sensation of experiencing one of his shows live.. I think it's just something you have to live through. One thing is sure - his voice is something else. It's not impeccable or perfect, but that adds to the magic. No single show will ever be the same, but they will always be full of strength, energy, and this feeling of care.

A lot of times, when I sit here and write these, it is usually the first time I am either hearing about the band, or the first time I have seen them live. I think this is the first time that I can confidently say that this is not the first time I heard and/or have seen an artist. As a matter of fact, this was time #3 of seeing Goldford - with the first time being at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles (2024) & the second being at Chop Shop (2025), here in Chicago.
But, what is it that makes Goldford so amazing? Besides the amazing music he makes and his soulful voice, if you manage to catch one of his shows, he's just like the rest of us. He doesn't put up a front and is honest about who he was before he had people lining up to see him perform. He's a humble person who still gives his graces to those that supported him - giving them their time in the spotlight when they're in the crowd. Here's a fun little truth that I found out one of these last few days.. Goldford really did start from the bottom. To my surprise, one of my newest friends - who actually plays in a band too - actually knew and played with Jeff (Goldford) almost a decade and a half ago. Talk about a small world. One of my top artists used to play with one of my closest friends!
Each time I have seen Goldford, he has gone to bigger and bigger venues. I have no doubt in my mind that he can reach wherever it is that he wants to go. I cannot wait to see him surpass the limits that he (might've) once thought were impossible. Thank you, Jeff & Team, for all of the amazing music, for this wonderful opportunity, and for just being you - a voice of hope and positivity.
Best of luck on the rest of the tour, and cheers to future success! Can't wait until the next show.
