DevilDriver Brings New Music To Chicago

Bottom Lounge in Chicago was one of many stops for DevilDriver on the "Strike and Kill Us" tour after the release of their latest album "Strike and Kill". Their new album has been the talk of the metal community since it's release in July, stated to be their best album in over 10 years. On August 8th I made the trip into the city to check it out myself, being a huge Dez and Coal Chamber fan since I was 14 (late 90's) I was excited to see DevilDriver. I don't know much of their music but I knew that if Dez can put on an amazing show with Coal Chamber, this was going to be just as great!

I was ready and so was the crowd standing behind me. I covered shows at Bottom Lounge in the past and knew this was going to be a loud intimate show, so I popped my ear plugs in and waited. The anticipation was building up and I saw Dez with the rest of the guys standing at the side of the stage, they were getting pumped. One by one the band members walked on stage, then Dez came on, gave me a wave and then didn't waste anytime! YES!!!

The energy of the whole band was crazy, I wasn't expecting that. Dez was all over the stage so much I had to watch out, I think he almost bumped into me a few times and I almost got hit by the guitars a few times, that's ok with me! Their energy got the whole crowd jumping like crazy as well, they didn't waste time opening up the pit at all! When my job was done I headed to a spot not far from the stage and enjoyed the rest of the show. I couldn't help but watch the fans, of all ages, sing along, head bang and throw horns at Dez. It was such a fun show and hope to get the chance again in the future to see them, and hopefully Coal Chamber again *wink.
