Sludge Legend Acid Bath Brings Their 30-Year Reunion to a Sold-Out Chicago!

A night of metal and madness took over the Salt Shed on Friday night with the long-awaited performance of sludge metal band, Acid Bath!

This highly anticipated concert has been sold out for months now, and despite the freezing cold, fans were wrapped around the building, hoping to secure a good spot in the pit.

The band's last performance nearby took place 37 miles east in Aurora, Illinois, on February 18th, 1996, and yet, nearly three decades later, their dedicated cult-following showed up and showed out, belting out every song lyric!

The crowd was enveloped by dark, melodic guitar riffs and hellishly haunting lyricism as Acid Bath delved into their unmistakable marriage of doom metal and grunge!

The band was equally supported in talent by both opening acts, Weedeater of North Carolina, and Grammy Award-winning metal act High on Fire. I found myself thoroughly impressed by their stage presence and overall performances! Additionally, it was incredibly refreshing to see a headliner so willing to share the stage, with both bands nearing 45-minute-long opening sets.

All in all, it was a fantastic evening filled with energy and headbanging, and I'm positive this is not the last we have to see of Acid Bath in Chicago. If you missed your chance to catch them, there is still time! Their tour resumes in the Spring of 2026 with a few more U.S. stops, and then they're off to Europe.
