Heavy, dark, melodic riffs with Orbit Culture in Chicago
Sweden's own Orbit Culture came through Chicago's House of Blues like a storm with their intense, but melodic, sound and bright flashing lights. The crowd was already warmed up from the previous acts. Just by looking at them, you could tell they were ready for blood. Once Orbit Culture stepped out, you could hearing the roaring yells and see waves of horns up in the air.

I seriously think this is a record for how fast people started crowd surfing. I think we were still in the first half of the first song when I had to get moved out of the way because a surfer was coming straight to my head! But, I think that's what makes it so fun.. getting to see people have a great time and still feeling like I'm part of crowd. Death metal is a little out of my typical wheelhouse but it was definitely something to remember. Between the high energy from Orbit Culture and the killer crowd, this was definitely a concert for the books. As I made my way around the venue, you could see people head banging and having a great time, and they all even tried making space for me - inviting me to hang around.

Orbit Culture was putting out hit after hit and it felt like there wasn't go to be an end to the show.. but I wasn't complaining!! Just like everyone else, I couldn't stop myself from head banging and air drumming. I stuck around for a little while after the show just to see the band's interactions with the crowd. Some of them hopped off the stage to shake some hands, take some pictures, and just chat and/or hand out some items from the set. I'm always trying to eye down the drummer to see if I can get a drumstick.. nothing yet, but I still have my fingers crossed and hoping that I can snag one sooner or later. All in all, the late-night show was nothing short of a spectacle, and after seeing how the band interacts with the crowd, it's no surprise people come to see them time and time again.

Thank you to Orbit Culture and their team for having me! It's exactly what I needed in the middle of a long week to help keep me hyped and motivated for the rest of the week!
